PERSONAL.
Mr. H. J. Edwards, of Gisborne, has been elected a non-resident Fellow of the Royal Colonial Institute.
Mr. F. J. Lysnar is at present on liis large run at Waiouru, preparing a home. He will attend meetings of the Harbor ’Board as usual. Mr. A., V. Pearse, of Auckland, has been appointed to the Telegraph Engineer’s Department in Gisborne. Mr F. W. Burnett, of Eketahuna, has been appointed foreman linesman. Mr. G. C. Munns, who was asked to accept the secretaryship of the Waikanae Beach Improvement Society, lias intimated that for business reasons he will not be able to carry out the work.
Mr. T. K. Moody, who has been accountant and controller of the wool department of the Gisborne Sheepfarmers’ Frozen Meat Company, Ltd., has been appointed to the position of manager of the Wanganui branch of the N.Z. Fanners’ Co-op. Distributing Company.
Jimmy Glabby, £he middleweight, was thirty years of age yesterday. During the day lie receiv* ed many well-wishes from friends in Gisborne and a number of telegrams from other parts of the Dominion. Last evening he was the guest at a small dinner-party given in liis honor at the Gisborne Hotel. Mr J. D. Holmes, District Engineer of Public Works at Tauranga, has resigned liis position and hopes to he' relieved at the end of August. He enters into partnership with Messrs. Toogood and Jones and will have charge, as resident partner at Tauranga, of the location and construction of the railway from Tc Awamutu to Putaruru under the Local Railways Act. Mr. Holmes had only been in charge since February and it is feared that his departure will further delav the work of construction of the East Coast railway.—P.A. wire.
The wedding took place yesterday in the Methodist Church of Miss M. E. Jenkins, eldest daughter mi Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Jenkins, of Thames, to Mr. A. P. Herring, son of Mr. W. F. Herring, of Westport. The service was conducted by Rev. W. .t±E. Abbey. Miss Corbett was bridesmaid, and Mr. J. Hart best man. The office of groomsman was filled by MlJ. Nelson. After the ceremony the breakfast was held and the,health of the bride and bridegroom .was honored among other toasts. Mi. ancl Mrs. Herring left for the South by the Arahura on their honeymoon.
