MEAT PRICES IN BRITAIN.

N Z. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S APPEAL. NEWSPAPERS SUPPORT REDUCTION. LONDON. April 27. The newspapers strongly support Sir Tims. Mackenzie's action in regard to a reduction in the price of meat, also a free market for butter along the lines indicated in tlie recent cable messages. The Daily Telegraph says the Government has made a start, even if small, in the matter of preference- and predicts that no future Chancellor will have the nerve to repudiate the policy; nevertheless. Sir Thos. Mackenzie lias rendered public service by drawing attention to specific causes of irritation. Public opinion in England will support his claim that the same justice should he measured out to the people of the Dominion as to the people here. —A. and N.Z. Cable Assn.
