JAM AND MARMALADE TO' BE RELEASED. PRICES COUNCILS TO BE ESTABLISHED. United Press Association— Copyright (Received April 25, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. April 23. Jam and marmalade will be decontrolled on Monday on condition that, adequate guarantees are given to protect the public. LONDON, April 23. Mr McCurdy, Secretary to tho Ministry of Food, announces that simultaneously with the decontrol of jam, a Prices Council will bo created representing employers and workers, which will co-operate with the Ministry of Food for the protection of the public with a view to stabilising prices and discouraging speculation in fruits. Rigid, control will be introduced if necessary. It is expected that similar councils will bo created in connection with other commodities.—A. and N.Z. Cable Assn.
