PROPOSED GIRLS’ HOSTEL.
EARLY CAMPAIGN FOR FUNDS URGED. AN OFFER OF ASSISTANCE. In connection with the resolution passed at last Saturday’s meeting to consider the proposed Girls’ Hostel. Mr W. M. Bayly. secretary of the Farmers' Union, has received a communication from ’ Mrs Kaye, secretary of the V W.G.A.. now at Masterton. stating that siie 'had wired to the field committee to know if they had any instructions to send on. and was awaiting their, reply. In the meantime Mrs Kave' advises keeping the provisional committee together. Mrs Kaye asks that the committee should decide on ilie property and the amount of money needed, also that a campaign for funds Do instituted as soon as possible. In connection with the establishment of other such hostels in the Dominion donations of £SOO. £2oo, and so on do" a to £lO and £5 had been made Mrs Kave also stated that she would "■ei the field committee to prepare special literature for the collectors to take with them or pest beforehand it thought wise. If the early nail ot June were considered an advisable Brae to institute the campaign for funds. Mrs Kave could come to Gisborne then "for a fortnight or so to assist, m the work. It is also suggested in the letter that those undertaking the work of collection in the country should have motor cars of their own or be taken out bv others possessing cars. Mje would ask Mr SandalL who was the secretary of the last Christchurch eam[pai"ti to forward full particulars as to how he and others ot the committee organised the work. ______
