NATIVE LANDS.

THE CONSOLIDATION SCHEME

WHAT HAS BEEN DONE. ! \ Much has been said during the election campaign in this district about the necessity for the speeding up the consolidation of Native Lands.

Particulars of what has already been done in this direction, and what is about to be done on the East Coast, were given to a Times reporter yesterday bv Mr W Goffe, of the Native Lands Denartment. Consolidation was no new thing, he said, for the huge Waipiro block of about 20,000 acres had been consolidated since March 1917. There was at present before the court, on the application of the Native Ministers, a scheme for the consolidation of a number of blocks in the vicinitv of Waipiro, aggregating about 20,000 acres. These blocks included Waiornngamai. Tutuwhiu.au, Ohi.neaki, Waikohu, Totaranui and Te A tua. These would be dealt with by the Native Land Court at Tokomaru Bay this week.
