NEW THEORY OF CRAVITATION.

COMMENT OI lONDwN TIMES

1 ITTT E I>SF!■HR FN < T r ) O PRA CTICAL WORLD-

LONDON. Nov. 28

Professor Eistein. the Swi-s scientist, concluding an abstruse article in the Times, says: Comment is calculated to cheer np devoted Newtonians whose confidence receni.lv was shaken. Wfiiile the basic principles of the new theory of gravitation diverged from Newton’s, both on theory and practical application, they agree so closely that it is difficult to find cases wherein actual differences could be subjected to observation. Newton’s clear wide ideals will forever retain their significance as the foundation whereon our modern conceptions of physics are built. The Times, in an editorial, says the new conception makes little difference to the practical world. The laws of physics become much complicated but we may measure out land and believe our clocks as before the emergence of Eistein. —Times.
