The produce trade is hopeful that the control of butter and cheese may be removed in the early spring. It is understood that the Government recently paid 330 s per cwt, f.o.b. for Danish butter, for delivery till February. In the House of Commons Mr Chamberlain stated that the Treasury had refused to purchase 2000 tons of Dutch butter because of the price asked, 335 s per cwt. f.o.b. —Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assn.
