I’TAX OF CAMP AlO X ARRANGED An auspicious opening of the, preparations for tlio Great Hand Battle took place last night, when Kaiti heard tho,_ battle call, mobilised, and elected officers in preparation for the corning fray. Albrecht introduced the organiser, Mr W. Tints. Mr Tints declared the aims of the campaign and narrated the plana of acton as indicated in a previous issue. He also spoke of the encouragement of the large company present. The campaign would be conducted throughout on business linos, tho various divisions would have special sots of books, and at the conclusion of the battle a complete record would be banded to each divi-iou. TT“ urged that, the strongest efforts should he made to recruit fighters and Hint the Ivaiti Guards should endeavour to augment their ranks with heavy enlistments of men and stimulate the campaign by a rapidly mounting fighting fund. The chief end of the campaign Was to get a man’s energy or his money, and to mobilise both. The services of all should be cnlist.cd. The. “Great AfobilTation Da.v” will he August 21. War will be declared and fighting will commence on August 28, when the artillery will be brought into action. The whole contest will be closed by a great spectacular display—a grand ceremonial function —when after the cannonade there will be the signing of peace, presentation of colors and the Union Jack to the princess of the victorious army. The organiser concluded his presentation of the plans of campaign by railing on the company present to elect officers. The following officers were elected: General: ATr F. W.
