LAND FOR RETURNED SOLDIERS.
MEN INDIGNANT AT GOVERNMENT DELAY.

Much indignation at the delay in settling soldiers on the land was expressed at the Whakatane County Returned Soldiers’ Association reunion, at which about 100 were present. , . ... Mr. W. Douglas complained that although the Woodlands _ Estate, Opotiki, was ready, no soldiers were being settled there yet. Mr W. C. Roberts, president ‘or the Whakatane Agricultural Association, said the Government appeared to he tied hand and foot by ied tape. He advocated local boards tor settling soldiers on the land. It was resolved that Lois meeting strongly urges upon the Government the necessity of quickly open mg up the various lands in this county forsettling returned soldiers.
