RESTRICTION OF PATRIOTIC SOCIETY FUNDS.
Press Association Telegram. CHRISTCHURCH, .April 2. At a welcome home ‘social at Leeston. a strong protest was entered against the action of the Hon. G. W Russell in forbidding the execu-. tive of the Lady Liverpool fund, Christchurch, making a -grant, towards the building of a Returned Soldiers’ Club, and the following resolution was carried:— That m .the opinion of this meeting of of the Ellesmere County, the Patriotic Society, after they' have .satisfied the purposes for - which their funds were raised, should have power to vote any surplus- funds to any obnec they may deem worthy for the comfort and .betterment of returned soldiers.”
