ARAWA’S RETURN HOME.
ARRANGING FOR RECEPTION
.Arrangements for the reception of the returning Arawa soldiers, due on April 5, were discussed at a meeting of the Ohinemutu, Patriotic Society, held at Ohinemutu on Monday .states the Rotorua correspondent of the New Zealand Herald. It was decided that the invitation to the reception at Gisborne given by Ngatx Poru and Ngati Kahungunu should be endorsed and that the Minister for Defence be informed accordingly, and that -the Arawas should not be officially represented either at the landing of the Maori soldiers at Auckland or at the Gisborne meeting, as the custom " prescribes that the soldiers should be met by their people on their own maraes. A reception would be accorded to the Arawa returned soldiers in Tamatekapu (the meeting-house at Ohinemutu.) The sum of £SO was voted to defray the expenses of the reception.
