LEAGUE OF NATIONS.
REVISED DRAFT FROM AMERICA.
NO INTERFERENCE IN DOMESTIC PROBLEMS.
Australian and N.Z. Cabl> Association. ; (Received March 31, 7.50 p.m.) WASHINGTON, March 22. Senator King states that he has drafted a. revised version of the League of Nations covenant and is sending it to President Wilson. Senator King leaves for France within three weeks for the purpose of urging the adoption of the revised draft. The amendments provide for the specific recognition of the Monroe doctrine whereunder nations in the Western Hemisphere will be permittee! to execute the League’s measures affecting any part of the Western Hemisphere. Similar provision is made for the Eastern Hemisphere. The League covenant would declare that any nation’s domestic problems must not be interfered with by the League. Domestic problems include the question of immigration, imposts, property, inheritance laws and naturalisation. Senator King claims that the revised covenant is written in clearer language than the official draft.
