FARMERS’ UNION.
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE.
A meeting of the executive of the Farmers’ Union. Poverty' Bay SubProvincial district of the Farmers' Union wnh held on Monday. Present: Messrs 0. H. Bridge (Chairman), J. O. Field, R. Hewson, W. McLean, G. J. Black, and. P. J- Quirk. A letter was read from the secretary of the Frankton Sub-Provincial District, pointing out the necessity for the Union tailing an active part in politics. After discussion, it was moved by Mr. Field and seconded by Mr Hewson, that a portion of. the letter be forwarded to the Dominion Secretary pointing out the urgent. necessity for the Minister taking active steps to cope with the Labour movement. This was carried unanimously. On the motion of Mr Bridge, seconded by Mr Quirk, it was resolved that Messrs Bridge. Black. Hewson aiid Field should be a committee to deal with the reply from the Dominion Secretary. . „ ■. A copy of the scheme for the re-, patriation of returned soldiers which had been forwarded to the executive from the Auckland Provincial Secretary, was read and discussed, and on the motion of Mr Field it was decided to bring the matter up at a further “it was unanimously agreed that the Secretary should. forward a letter to all unfiriancial mambers, requesting them to forward their subscriptions as soon as possible, also that a letter be sent to all Branch Secretaries asking them to do all they, can to collect the amounts outstanding "for their particular branches. • • ■ *.■'
