BRITISH ELECTIONS.
LLOYD GEORGE’S MINISTRY
NEWSPAPER COMMENT
Australian and N.Z. Gable Association. LONDON, Jan. 13. The newspapers comment that there are few surprises in the Cabinet selection. Some regret that Mr. Lloyd-George lias not shown more courage in going outside routine names when filling some of the most prominent .offices, particularly the Admiralty. There are several hostile comments at Mr. Churchill’s translation to the War Office. Doubts of Sir F. E. Smith’s suitability for the Lord Chancellorship are expressed. One journal recalls Sir F. E. Smith’s fiery pre-war speeches favoring an Ulster rebellion as showing unfitness for the highest judicial post in the Empire. All the newspapers approve of the appointment of Mr. Sinha to the Indian Office. The Daily Telegraph states that Mr. Sinha will be raised to the peerage. : : The newspapers predict that _ the amalgamation of the Air Ministry with the Admiralty will revive the Admiralty’s antagonism, resulting in the re-establishment of a separate naval air force.
