Evidence of the liuschiveaus result of anti-militarist rumours, regarding the condition of affairs in* New Zealand, is conveyed in a letter received by a Christchurch resident by the last Australian mail. The writer, who wascontemplating the sale of certain New Zealand securities very much below their value, in giving the reasons for the proposed sacrifice, mote: —“I heard New Zealand was in a bad way, owing to conscription, and nearly every day we see m our papers advertisements for men to go to New Zealand to take positions there.” The writer has been assured by return mail that New Zealand is not in the bad way its detractors appear to have lead some people to believe.
