MA.TAWHERO STOCK SALE. The weekly stock sale by, the Poverty. Bay Stockbrokers’ Association was held at the Matawhero yards yesterday. There was > good attendance, of buyers, and the sale passed off well. * Tile entries of fat sheep totalled 219. .Bidding was brisk- and good prices were paid, but reserves were high and a number cf lines had to be pasued at auction. Ewes made up to 35s 3d and hoggets 31s Gd. A very fine line of prime ewes were passed ob 40s Gd. . Only three head of fat cattlo were penned and the quality was very poor. A cow (light) made Til ss, and the other two were passed. . Fifteen, pigs (chiefly weaners) were offered and all sold readily at good prices. Weaners, which formed the bulk of the entry, sold up to 24b Gd, while porkers realised 39s and baconers £3 12s Gd. The entries of store sheep totalled 5654 including lambs at foot. Business was done upon a sound basis and with private salefe a good clearance was made. Hoggets made up to 27s Gd, 4 and 5-year old ewes to 32s 9d, 2-tooth wethers to 365, 4 and 6-tooth ewes to 34s 3d, 2 and 4-tooth wethers to 33s Id, 4 and 6-tooth wethers to 37» Gd, 2-tooth ewes to 32s 3d and 4tooth wethers to 3Ss Sd. The entries cf store cattle totalled 276. The quality was much above the average and prices were highly satisfactory. Only a few dairy cattlo were offered. The quality was poor and very few sales were made.
