CAR HIRE FOR SOLDIERS.
CLAIM TO DEFENCE: COMMITTEE. It was mentioned l>v Captain Pitt at yesterday’s meeting of the Citizens’ Defence Committee that he had several accounts for car hire in connection noth the funeral of a returned man at which soldiers- attended. He considered that application should have been made to the Association for the lend of cars from the Motor Reserve. ' The chairman (Air Stock) said it was wrong for the Returned Soldiers Association to engage cars without reference to th c Committee and then expect the Committee to pay the hills. Cars would have been available had the men appealed to the Committee. He moved that the accounts should be referred to the Claims Board. . Air Wildish seconded the motion, which was carried.
