OFF TO CAMP.
GISBORNE’S QUOTA FOR THE 4.7 th REINFORCEMENTS. ENTHUSIASTICALLY FAREWELLED LAST NIGHT. A draft of 39 men left for camp last night to join the 47th Reinforcements. The men presented a splendid appearance as they lined np for the final roll call at the Garrison Hall. After; Air. Morris had distributed Bibles and Alesdames Shorratt and R. Johnston had distributed the usual badges and liussifs, the Rev. Jas. Aitkon offered prayer. The Deputy Mayor (Air. H. E. Hill) delivered a short farewell address on behalf of the citizens in. the absence of the Mayor (Mr. W. G. Sherratt), and Air. J. AY. Bright farcwelled the men on behalf of the- Citizens’ Defence Committee. The men marched up Peel Street and Gladstone Road to the tender, preceded by the City Rand. Amid loud cheering and to the stirring strains of “Sons'o’ the Sea.” played by the band, the Tuatea with the draft on board, steamed out to the Arahura.
