REV. EYBURN’S NEW APPOINTMENT. Press Association Telegram. INVERCARGILL October 1. At- a meeting of the Southland a resovtery to-day a call from St, Andrew’s Church to Rev. M. Ryburn of T irst Church, Invercargill, sustained and accepted. Speakers on behalf of the congregation and clergy euclcgised Mr Ey-burn’s ten years’ ministry liere and referred to the departing minister’s exceptional qualifications in the pulpit and in church life generally and as a public man. His departure will be greatly, regretted, but it was recognised that an important field lay ahead of him in Canterburv.

Regulations, are Gazetted declaring that after October 1, save in pursuance - of a license isstled by the Minister,, for Marine it shall not ho lawful for an alien enemy to bo engaged or to continue to be engaged ■as master or a mate or engineer on any Home trade ship or to be engaged or continue to be engaged as harbormaster or in any other official position in the employment of- a Harbor Board. Notice is? also Gazetted that- the regulation providing for the issue M distinctive badges to officers and crews employed on transports or other vessels chartered by or under the control of the New Zealand Government for any purposes in connection with the present war have been revoked.
THE PRESBYTERIAN MODERATOR SE IP.
DUNEDIN, October 1
The Dunedin Presbyterian nominated Professor Hewitson as Moderator for next General Assembly. It was resolved to send a letter to President Wilson, acknowledging his services to the Allied cause; also a similar one to Mr Lloyd-George.
COMPLAINT AGAINST THE TABLET.
Apropos of banned literature the Dunedin Presbytery to-day resolved to nopoint a. deputation to wait on the acting-Prime Minister to- lay before him extracts from the tablet and ask whether the Government, think it necessary to suppress the publication of the Tablet, wlrch R h alleged, had made grave charges aon i list the morality of Joan tvnox. It was also resolved, to observe Sunday as a Thanksgiving day tor the war victories.
