IMPORTANT CLEARING SALE. ON BEHALF OF MR. E. M, HUTCHINSON. ; Air. E. M. Hutchinson, having sold Ids Opotiki property to tire Government for the settlement of returned soldiers, has instructed Messrs. Common, Shelton and Co., in conjunction with the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Opotiki, to •hold a two-days’ clearing sale at the homestead at the end of February. The quality of Mr. Hutchinson’s stock is very widely known, and a great deal of interest will bo taken in the sale. The stock comprises about 6000 breeding owes, 200 cows with calves at foot Cal j go al colors and one earmark), and stud Hereford cows. Buyers desiring to secure straight lines of breeding cows of the right kind would do well to suspend operations till the sole. ■ c live stock will bo sold on the first day of the sale, and the farm implements and furniture on the second day. The following prices were realised at Gray’s weekly sale: —Horses: good entries were received and the class of hacks and light harness horses were very good. Two-thirds of the entries changed owners. The Marble-Arch gelding fetched £l6, weight-carrying hack £lO, light hacks £2 to £6, horse, harness and gig £25 10s, light spring cart £lB 10s, butterfly gig and lamps £B, set harness £3. Cattle: two cows and four heifers were yarded (all passed in). Dogs: Several young sheep dogs were sold. Poultry (248 birds penned). Gobblers Ss to 10s, white Leghorn pullets 3s 6d to os, black Orpington pullets 5s to 7s 6d, white Wyandotte pullets 5s Gd, white Wyandotte cockerel 9s, black Orpington cockerels 4s Od to 6s, ordinary sorts, liens 2s 10d to 3s Gd. roosters 3s Id to 6s, ducks 2s 9d to 3s sd, cauliflowers, small vegetables and eggs, sold out. Furniture and sundries, brisk. Messrs Samson Bros., auctioneers, report the, following prices at their usual weekly sale on Saturday. Poultry:—The demand keeps up and all lines meet with very keen competition. Turkey Gobblers, 12s 6d per head, Turkey liens 10s per head, white Leghorn hens 3s Od to 4s 6d per head, Golden Pencilled Hamburgs 2s 6d to 2s 9d per head, silver Wyandotte hens 4s 6d to 4s 9d per head, heavy roosters 3g 6d to 3s 9d per head, one white Leghorn rooster fetched. 15s. Ducks and drakes 3s Gd to 4s per head. Eggs Ik per dozen. Prime quality Canterbury potatoes are very scarce and sold at 18s per cwt. Other lines 15s per cwt. Seed potatoes are selling freely at current rates.
