95,000 MEN SENT TO DATE. GREAT LIST OF HONORS. Press Association Tel-wram-AUOKLAND, July 9. In a speech at Helensville to-night Sir James Allen said New Zealand to date had sent away 95,000 soldiers and over 22,00 had returned. He was hopeful that we shortly would be able to reduce the reinforcement quota to what it was a few months ago. Sir James Allen announced that he had just received a letter from General Godley giving particulars of the honors gained by New Zealanders as follows:
Mentioned in despatches ... 925 Recommended to Secretary of State for War ... 117 The awards to women were as follows: —Royal Red Cross— First Class ... 7 Second Class ... ... 34 The honors awarded to New Zealanders by the Imperial authorities totalled 3045, and in addition 142 decorations had been awarded for service with the Allies as follows: French 46, Russian 7, Belgian 52. Serbian 29, Montenegrin 3.
