FOCH’S DEFINITE COMMAND
Australia.™ arvd N\Z. Association (Received June 19. 8.10 p.m.) LONDON, June IS. It transpired during a. debate in the House of Commons that General Foch is definitely commander-in-chief of the Allied forces.
General Focli’s proud position as Commander-in-Cliief of the _ Allied Forces has only one parallel in history—that of Wellington in tile Peninsula, when the Cortes had finally placed him in command of the Spanish troops. It was this single control of the finest combined 1 army ever hitherto placed at the disposal of a British general that enabled the Duke to drive the French hack over the Pyrenees. British, Portuguese, Spanish, and Galician responded to the call of the great leader with absolute loyaltv and certitude. _ In six weeks he had accompanied his task arid £ '"stood on the summit of the Pyrenees a recognised conqucroi.
