RUGBY FOOTBALL.
COMING SEASON’S COMPETITIONS. It was intended to close the entries yesterday in connection with the several competitions under the jurisdiction of the P.B. Rugby Union, but as the Management Committee will not be ’meeting until Monday next it has been decided to extend the date of entry until that date, Monday, April 29, at noon.
So far three teams have been entered in the Senior Competition, three in the Junior Grade, and two in the thirds. Attempts are being made in the country districts to enter teams from Te Karaka and Makaraka, but it is not yet known whether they will be successful. Indications are excellent in connection with the three grades, but players have rather a - dilatory manner in bringing their club affairs to a satisfactory conclusion. In order to assist the Union anyone desirous of forming a new club is asked to interview the secretary of the Union, when the matter may be discussed and the necessary meeting called of those interested. By this means it is hoped that the necessary number of teams may be obtained to make all three grades successful during the ensuing season.
