An East African official report April 1, General Edwards’ columns from the coast and General Nortlioy’s columns from Lake JN>assa, despite the height of the ram) season, have been converging against the Germans concentrated northwards of the Lurio river. One or General Northey’s columns, on April 5, occupied Malnia, south-westward of Msala, and a detachment pushed, eastwards, despite flooded rivers, and, inflicted severe losses on the enemy on the 11th. The main German group Was encountered moving northwest from Maala towards Mahua. General Edwards’ troops seized Medoboma on the 12th after a. day-long battle, resulting in severe German losses.
