WARNING TO PACIFICISTS

Sir Auckland Geddes in a speech at Aldershot, discussing the German war aims, said the most dangerous time would be when Germany for her own purposes desired peace negotiations on the understanding that she had been drawn into the fight. Then the pacificists, who were not numerous, but very vocal, would redouble their efforts.' Peace under such conditions would mean that the world would sleep with a bayonet and rifle bv its side, with security impossible until the Germans were convinced that their doctrine of superiority was false.
