MORE GISBORNEITES RETURNING.

A transport arrived at Auckland yesterday bringing back to New Zealand a large number of sick and wounded soldiers. Included in the number were seven men for Gisborne and one for Wairoa. AUCKLAND, Jan. 3. Draft No. 130 has arrived, consisting of 442 wounded invalids, including 43 officers. There are no serious cases, all being “walking wounded. The majority were put out of action in the battle of.the Somme a smaller proportion at Messines. Most- have been for lengthy periods in English hospitals and convalescent homes and are returning to New Zealand fc> r final discharge. The draft is in charge of Lieutenant-Colonel Gardner °D.S.O., who returns to fill the post- of deputy quartermaster-general. Hie men have much benehtted by their trip. Three sisters who returned on duty include Sister Gilmer, or Hamilton, who has received the Royal Red Cross for work on actne service. ANOTHER SHIP TO-DAY. Press Association Telegram. WELLINGTON, Jan. 3. The Base Records Office has been advised that a returning draft of UJ men will probably arrive at Auckland on the afternoon of the 4th mst.
