MORNINGTON ISLAND TRAGEDY.
THE MISSIONARY VICTIM
Press Association Telegram. INVERCARGILL, Nov. 7. Rev. Mr. Hall, who was murdered at Mornington -Island, was a son of the late Mr. John Hall, of Edendale. He was born at Taieri Beocli, 36 years ago. The family removed to Edendale (Southland) soon after. Deceased subsequently spent some years in the Oamaru district in farming pursuits. In 1904 lie entered Blair College. Adelaide with a_ view to qualifying for the foreign mission field and in. 1909 married Miss Tonkin,'formerly of Oamaru, who had also received missionary training at Adelaide. Deceased was first engaged in missionary work-among the Australian aboriginals at Mapoojv North Queensland, and three years jur o lie was given the task of opening the virgin territory of Mornington Island and had made excellent progress.
