THE WAY TO TRIESTE.
CHEERY ITALIAN REPORT. COUNTER-ATTACKS REPULSED. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association and Eeuter’s. (Received Sept. 3, 8.10 p.m.) ROME, Sept. 3. An Italian official report says: We repulsed counter-attacks on the southern edge of Bainsizza Pateau, the northern slopes of -Monte San Gabrielle, and eastward of Gbrissia. We extended our gains in the "Restovizza Valley and re-captured a position 8500 metres in height in "the upper Zebra Valley. DESPERATE AUSTRIAN RESISTANCE. A TYPICAL INSTANCE. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received Sept 3, 9 p.m). v ROME, Sept 3. Three hundred Austrians were completely isolated in the Bristoizza Valley for 12 days. They fought desperately, but eventually a bayonet charge demolished them. This is typical of the Austrian resistance in the Carso, but our steady advance continues towards San Gabrielle and our encircling movement is developing uninterruptedly, despite picked Austrian troops’ furious counter-attacks.
