AUCKLAND SESSIONS. Press Association Telegram. AUCKLAND, Sept. 3. A Maori named Jack Pihana pleaded not guilty and was committed for trial on a charge of killing James White Hooker on August 11, and with causing actual bodily harm by an act of negligence to Hooker. The evidence showed that Pihana, who allegedly had committed a nuisance in the street, was Being pursued by a constable and ran on to the footpath, colliding with Hooker. The fatter complained of pains in the abdomen and legs, and was conveyed to the hospital, where he died 18 hours later. Medical evidence was to the effect that death was due to rupture of a cyst on a kidney and hemorrhage, and that probably a little force from a collision would cause the rupture.
