110,000 PERSONS DIE OF HUN-
GEE IN LEBANON
It is reported from Rome that owing to the exorbitant prices of provisions tli o poor of Syria and' Palestine are dying of hunger. As a measure of oppression a condition of famine was virtually decreed at a counsel presided over by Djemal Pasha, at winch a German General, the Consul-General of Germany, and the Consul-General of Austria were present. The measure was adopted almost throughout Syria, but more spej.n Lebanon where up to the present' over 110,000 persons have died of hunger. , At Bey rout about 20 dead were picked up daily, and the same number at Jerusalem. In addition to this; persons continue to-be hanged. Several Bishops and numerous 'Christian notables have been deported.
