NAVAL ACTIVITY.
BRITISH WARSHIPS BOMBARD OSTEND. GERMAN DESTROYERS ENGAGED. one of The enemy sunk. ANOTHER SEVERELY DAMAGED Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON. June 5. It is announced that Admiral Tyrwhitt’s cruiser destroyer squadron sank a German, destroyer and damaged a second. British warships bombarded Osten d. An Admiralty report from Dover states: The vice-admiral reports that early this morning we heavily bombarded the naval base and workships <at Ostend. A. large number of rounds were fired with good results. The shore batteries returned the fire. Our bombarding forces suffered no damage. Commodore Tyrwhitt also reports that early this morning the light cruisers and destroyers under his command sighted six German destroyers and engaged them at long range. A running fight ensued. Our gunfire sank a German destroyer, the S2O, and severely damaged another. We picked np seven survivors of 'the S2O. We sustained no casualties.
ZEEBRUGGE SN RUINS. GERMANS SUFFER HEAjVY LOSS. BOMBARDMENT FOR AN HOUR AND A-HALF. . Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received June 6, 5.15 p.m.) LONDON. June 5. The Exchange Telegraph 'Agency's Flushing correspondent says the naval bombardment was the most formidable of the war and continued for 100 minutes. A huge fleet with heavy artillery participated and explosions and fires followed. There was a flotilla of German torpedoers anchored in Zeebrugge harbor, which suffered severely according to a German deserter. Zeebrugge is in ruins.

ENEMY CHASED HOME
The Times. (Received 1 June 6, 11.15 p.m.) LONDON, June G. Commodore Tyrwhitt sighted the enemv at dawn five miles off. The British fleet, comprising cruisers and destroyers, - divided into two lines and the destroyers opened the engagement, immediately damaging the 5.20, which in a few minutes was seen to sink. A destroyer rescued seven of her crew. The chase lasted until the Germans reached their minefields.
