ENTERTAINMENTS.

The Royal Pantomime Company, which is again visiting Gisborne after j several years’ absence, has advertised to show two pantos, which it is refreshing to find are somewhat- away from tlie beaten track. I he stories of Bluebeard and Little Jack Horner have certainly not been seen hero in the last decade. Miss _ Kathleen .slack, on the occasion of her last visit to New Zealand with tlie present combination, gained considerable notoriety for her exhibitions of swimming and high diving that many call to mind the popularity ol this mostgifted of all principal boys. “Bluebeard” has proved to he one of the most successful pantos that t-ie fertile brain of Mr Harry 'Taylor has over devised. The production for Saturday, “Little Jack Horner,” lias also enjoyed a phenomenal mu throughout Australia. 'The enterprise of the management in -bringing its company to New Zealand at the present time should meet with the success that its previous reputation deserves. Miss Maude Shipp, a young ladv who deli'dits in making other folk laugh, regardless of her own appearance tlie meantime, will be one of the big coined v attractions. We expect- nine- 1 from the dame in panto, and Mr Bob Llovd, who comes with an English experience of many years, will doubtless prove as diverting as a dame should he. Mr Charles Houaru, - 1 Joe Chambers, Miss Power. Miss Mollie King, the two Sindaires and .1 asquali will also he prominent throughout. A matinee, catering expressly for young people, is announced lor Saturday. \y aEIIE NG A -A-111 KA BA Z A All. YESTERDAY’S SUCCESSFUL Of FNING. The stalls, which contained a splendid range of articles oi sale did good business while games and other amusements helped to pass a verv pleasant evening.- 'There were live or six articles raffled, and more will he raffled to-night and mi V ednesdav might. WORLD’S PICTURES

A brilliant new programme to ho presented at the World’- Pictures to-day and to-night is headed by a marvellous picture ‘ 1 he Go c on

Chance,'' featuring the over-popular Wallace Reid and Cleo Ridgeley. “The Golden Chance” describes in pictures of sublime beauty and supremo simplicity the golgotha of a woman's heart. Back and forth . the story goes, from joy, wealth, and hap. pi ness to poverty, poignant grief, and litter wretchedness, ending with a golden sunset. It- is splendidly produced, and if paintings in a Rembrandt Gallery or a set of Titians and 'Tintorettos were to conic to life suddenly and Mere transferred to tlie screen, tlie effect could not be greater than is gained by tlie beautiful photoplay of this picture play. The .supporting programme js well up to standard and includes the latest- “ Bathe Gazette, ‘ and “In Ancient Spain.'' HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE.
