THE COTTON REGULATIONS.

AN IMPORTANT STATEMENT. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received March 13. 10.10 p.m.) LONDON, March 13. In the House of Commons, replying to questions, Mr Chamberlain said it was not intended to grant preference to British or Dominions cotton manufacturers, or India, as compared with the Allies. The aim was to reduce war purchases. He had the resolutions in his mind when the duty was framed, but it could not be applied until the Imperial Fiscal policy was considered after the war.
