To-day get a big Is 10d Dome As a protective measure against fire the flnvmillers at Makerna, me, me flaxmillers at Manawatu, formed an association last week to be known as the Makerua Fire ’ Protection Association. the flax-owilers recognise .that co-opera-tion is the only method of meeting a common danger as was demonstrated at the flax fire last week. Ihe agreement of association provides that it is incumbent upon members to assist and to supply all the men necessary to fight fire outbreaks, the association to bear the cost of fighting all fires, tiro members contributing to the fund on an acreage basis. The men are paid 2s 6d per hour for day and ds .per hour for night in cases of fire. There are fourteen members in the association at present.
