WAR LOAN DAY.

GREAT SUCCESS REPORTED, v — — United Press Association—Copyright. (Reuter's Telegrams-) LONDON, Feb. 9. War loan day opened auspiciously. There was a great enthusiastic gathering at the Royal Exchange. The Lord Mayor urged them all t<o put their last penny into war loan certificates.

Trophies exhibited at Trafalgar Square included German field guns. A contingent of New Zealanders and Maoris lined behind the guns, which were viewed by large crowds. (Received Feb. 10, 5.5 p.m.)

'The citizens at a war loan meeting at Belfast subscribed a million, making the city’s contribution of £4,500,000. Sixty-two million war- savings Certificates were sold in Britain during the year. Sir Joseph Ward has delivered war loan speeches at Wakefield and Grimsby. He visits Leicester, Preston, and Newcastle on a similar mission next week.
