LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
League football in Auckland is beginning to got on the move and the annual meeting of the Auckland body will lie held on April 12. Returns from the various clubs which have already reached Mr Spinley, the secretary of the Auckland Rugby League, show that fully 75 per cent of the players of last season wave already gone to the front or are waiting to get away. In common with other bodies the management have decided to encourage players who are eligible to go, and the competitions for next season will be arranged so as to cater for the younger men and those who have either done their duty or are unfit for military service. The following circular lias been addressed to the affiliated clubs: I have to inform you that at meeting of the league held on Wednesday evening last it was decided -to continue ah matches for tlio forthcoming season. At the present time we do not know what competitions will be held', owing to the great number of men who have gone forth to play their part at the front. The opinion of the league is to carry on, and so prepare and make fit those waiting to fie called up. W e realise that all cannot go to the front, and therefore something must lie done to cheer up those who unfortunately cannot play the greater game. Amongst our senior players are a great number of married men, and, despite tlie opinion of a few, we realise that these men cannot be deprived of the only enjoyment they get. In the junior ranks there are many v no are too voting to enlist, and thereroie competitions will have to be held to satisfy them. In the opinion of my league the carrying on of the sport wilf not deter or prevent men from enlisting.
