The General Officer Commanding has directed that these men should be granted leave from the annual and casual camps. Those who desire leave must make application as soon as they receive their notice to attend camp, so that the Departmen mav go into the case sufficiently to decide whether:—(i) The men are engaged on equipment urgently reouired for use for the Expeditionary Force; (ii) that the work they are so engaged upon will not become ot less consequence before the completion of the casual camps. If the officer commanding' the regiment, after making full inquiries, is of the opinion that leave should be granted he will forward Ins recommendation to the officer commanding the district, who will grant leave accordmgly- er cases leave from the ' regiment’s annual camp will only be ! granted where attendance will cause [ hardship to the man or to his employr ers, on the distinct understanding that the man attends the annual camp of some other unit or, one of the casual canrns. • , All applications for leave. must be made in time to allow Brigade and Unit Headquarters to report to District Headquarters, at least a fortnight before the camp begins, as to the number who will be absent.
