With reference to a statement by the Minister for Defence that applications from returned soldiers for commissions in tho Reinforcements Avould be received by the. Defence Department. it is emphasised that no such applications can be accepted for consideration until the intending .applicant lias reported fit for duty in a training camp. Applications must then be submitted through the commandant of tho training camp. Tim Unrimrsity Senate resolved that ■file University Act be amended so that the Senate may have power to deal Avith matters concerning medical, dental, and professional education Avithout receiving recommendations from the Board of Studies.
