ENORMOUS DAMAGE REPORTED

The floods in Holland are increasing. The dead at Marken..number twonlv t’vo. Queen Williemina visit.l i.. Luv-ler Zee districts and superintended the- alleviation of distress. (Received January 18, ll.o_p.ni.) . Tho greater part of tlie fishing fleet way destroyed and only four houses were undamaged. ' iVo ships were lifted on to the roofs of a group of houses, wrecking the dwellings and drowning the inmates. In another house eight inmates clambered from beam to beam as tho house settled down and when the waters rose they fell exhausted and were drowned. The financial Joss is enormous on the mainland. Soldiers heroically dashed to thee beaches and vainly endeavoured to stem tho tide. Scores of hitherto rich farmers are penniless, and it will ho vears before tho land recovers its fertility.
