GISBORNE AREA MEETING.

- YESTERDAY’S PROCEEDINGS

The rifle shoot held on the Mangapapa butts yesterday by the military and semi-military forces of Area No. 25, group No. 7, was a marked success. Although there were not many visiting riflemen or territorials, a large number of the local riflemen and cadets turned out, and the brilliant weather greatly added to the enjoyment of all. The shooting and scores were well up to the standards set by previous shoots, especially among the cadets. A departure from the usual programme was made in greatly increasing the ranges, six hundred yards being the highest. The shooting from these ranges, although tney were new to the cadets, was also well up to the mark. The various competitions resulted as follows : '
