During the discussion on the report of the Finance Committee, attention was' drawn to the apparent laxity oi the Education Department in producing the necessary machinery to enable committees to claim subsidies, on voluntary contributions to school funds. . It was pointed out that by regulations gazetted in July for subsidies can only be made on frjrms provided by the Government, and that after three months the forms are not to be obtained. The Committee, decided to write to the Minister for Education, to Sir James Carroll, and to the Hon. W. D S. McDonald and urge them to. hasten the Department’s action in this matter.
