GISBORNE SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
MONTHLY AIE ETING. The regular monthly meeting of the Gisborne School Committee was hold in the School last evening when all members were present except Air Boloman, who is in Wellington. Dr .lortor, the chairman, presided. Mr Thos. Ellery wrote thanking the Committee tor its letter of sympathy in connection with the death olios son Secil in the Dardanelles, and offerin,o* to provide the board! proposed by the Committe for the roll of honor.It was decided to accept the offer gratefully and a sub-committee was appointed to confer with Air Eller j in the matter. The report of tho Inspectors having referred "to the conditions of some of the desks in tlie school, it was decided to draw the attention of tho Board of Education to these remarks and to ask the Board to replace the old desks with new ones. _ Reports were received from the rlnance and tho Visiting Committees aiul from the headmaster. The latter referred to the deaths of two children, Harold Sewell and Clara Stevenson, late pupils of the school, and to the deaths on the battlefield of nine more old pupils of flic school—Archibald Adair, Clyde Evans, Henry McDowell, Nelson Hogg, Dilworth Hossman.
