PERSONAL NOTES.
Mrs Daniel Porter, who has been a resident of Gisborne for many years past, passed away yesterday aftej a long and painful illness, death corning as a release from great suffering. Much sympathy will be extended to tho sorrowing husband-
Mr J. Morshead, who has for twelve years been working in the Northern W'airoa dairy company’s factory at Mangawharc, has been appointed to the position of manager at the Tologa Bay factory. Last- week Mr Thos. Downs, manager of the Northern W'airoa factory, and his good wife, entertained Mr and Mrs Morshead and the rest of the Company’s employees at a social evening at their residence (says the “W'airoa Bell”). During the evening .-several presentations were made, to Mr Morshead. Captain Vause (of the s.s. Pioneer) first presented him with a handsome dressing ease, as a token of esteem from the directors of the company and the employees. Later in the evening, Mr Thos. Downs, on behalf of the directors, staff and employees, presented Mrs Morshead with a handsome salad bowl. Later still in the evening, another surprise awaited Mr Morshead, for Mr Edwin Harding, director, on behalf of the Company asked Mr Morshead to accept a- very handsome silver tray, beautifully engraved and suitably inscribed, ‘as a souvenir of his long services with the company., and as an expression of the company's appreciation. The whole company joined in wishing Mr and Mrs Morshead a liappv and prosperous future, and the expressions of good-will were suitably I acknowledged.
