Mr. G. M. Currie, the Koatonui studmaster, went down to Wellington from Wanganui to meet the Tamm, which steamer brought tho stallion Absurd and the brood mare Eulogy from the Old Country. Absurd is a five-year-old horse by Sundridge, by Amphion (son of Speculum or Roseiberry) from Sierra, by Springfield (son of St. Albans) from Sandla, by Wenlock (son of Lord Cliiden) from Sandal, bv Stockwcll (son of The Baron). Absurd’s dam, Absurdity, is by Melton (son of Master Kildare) from Paradoxical, by Timothy (son of Heimit) from Inchbonny, by Sterling (son of Oxford). Absurd was purchased at auction for 1000 guineas. His sue Sundridge! was sold for £25,000. Absurdity (the dam of Absurd) throw two classic “winners in successive seasons. Her daughter Jest won the One thousand Guineas and Oaks in 1913, and her son Black Jester captured last year’s St. Leger. Absurd was a lair performer himself, winning four oi tJie eight races he contested as a two-year-old. One of his successes was in the Middle Park Plate. Eulogy is ft three-year-okl filly by Cicero- Lvelvibia, by Upas—Goletta, by Galopm— Riserta (half-brother to St. Frusquin s dam). Eulogy is in foal to Coriander, by Spearmint from Admiration ' (the dam of Pretty Polly). Mr. Currie expressed himself as well pleased with bis new purchases. The horses landed in good condition.
