SYDNEY, March SAt the Royal Commission inquiry into alleged corruption in connection with the Wheat Acquisition Act. evidence was given that a number or inrmers and others in the Coalamen district sent- a deputation to interview tiie member for the district and Minßter’s about the Bill. Subsequently_an agent was appinted to cairvassMbe districts with the oh-iec-t or obtaining subscriptions with a view to taxing steps for securing the cancellation or wheat contracts. Witnesses gave varying rersrms'f-i how money was expended. Some said thev had been told it was to go to the Labor caucus and .others that it- went to pav a solicitor for putting the sin - scribers’ case before Ministers. One witness alleged that ho uaci been told that £3OO was paid to thCaucus. The case is unfinished.
