A FLYING VISIT.

MINISTER OF JUSTICE DROPS DOWN ON GISBORNE.

A motor car glided unostentatiously into Gisborne about 5 o’clock yesterday afternoon, and pulled up at the Gisborne Hotel. .The four occupants of the car had .nothing particular about them to distinguish them from the ordinary tourists, but nevertheless they were a decided power m the land. The party included the Hon. A. LPier dm an (Minister for Justice), M.i John Cullen (Commissioner of Police), Mr Alf. IV arb rick (the well-known Government guide at Rotorua), and Mr E, N. G. Poulton (Mr Hcrdman’s private secretary). , Hie Minister has for the, past week been making a tour of inspection upon matters connected with the Justice Department, and this was responsible for his visit to Gisborne. The part- left Rotorua on Wednesday last, and, piloted by Guide Warbrick, made the journey overland through the o rower a Country, travelling the first stages by motor c,ar, and tho remainder of the journey to Lake Waikaremoana on horseback. Been by a “Times” reporter after his arrival, the Minister stated that his visit was purely in connection with matters connected with the. Justice Department, and he had no information to give the press. . \ . Yesterday afternoon tho party inspected the' harbor works, and had a good look round the town, the Minister remarking that he was greatly struck with "the progress the place was The f° r J ustice and Commissioner of Police, accompanied by Guide Warbrick and 'Mr Poulson, will leave for IVairoa, via Morere, to-day, and go on to Napier.
