At its recent meeting the Otahubu Trotting Club decided to donate its share of toe totalistator receipts on the Cnp to the Belgian Relief Fund. As a result that worthy cause will benefit to the extent of about £l5O. The generosity* or the Otalmhu -Clubwill meet with tire approval of all sportsmen, and its example might well be followed by other trotting and rae'ingtoiubs. Although R. Young’s appeal against his disqualification by the Mart-on Jockey Club was dismissed the deposit of £2O was returned. Among the entries for the Masterton Meeting are tlie Victorian-bred horses Two Lights and Veronal. Ladrone’s task on Tuesday morning at Riccavton was a mile on the grass which, he accomplished nicely in Imin 46sec. If started in the Peninsular Cup to-day, he will take a lot of heating.

Tarinaj dam of Tirana, winner of the Juvenile Handicap at Wanganui, was one of the (St. Clements tribe and, like her sire, could gallop very fast. At the conclusion of the Dash Handicap on the ..rst day of the Wanganui Trotting Club’s meeting, protests were entered against Rothschild Excelsior and Lodestar, who finished first and second, on the ground tha-e both bad anticipated the starter•» signal to go. After a lengthy inquiry, the stewards upheld the objections and awarded the race to Professor, Lady fiefton being placed second. As usual in such cases a number of those who supported the horses eventually placed first and second destroyed their tickets.

After the poor showing she made on both days at- Wood vide Passadena is unlikely to be sent to Nelson.

Gisborne-owned horses had a good innings at the Dannevirkc Meeting, annexing five races, including the Cup. Ben Deelev had the steering of all these winners. Sea Pink, who is now being trained by H. Rayner at Randwick, is to make his Australian debut in the Rosehill Cup, decided on the 13th inst. The ’Wanganui stewards were very much a’ive at their recent meeting, but there was a tendency to keep certain' of their deliberations from getting publicity, which was not as it ought to be, writes a northern scribe. Every information should he given to the Press, irrespective of who is concerned in the inquiry. It is quite on the cards that R. J. Mason will take a small team north for the Masterton meeting, as he has Camulus and mnksia engaged in the Masterton Cup. It is reported that Despatch Carrier was injured when contesting the Tamaki Welter at Dannevirke on Wednesday, and this caused his withdrawal on the second day. Gisborne horses have received fan loads to carry at Napier and Mastej*ton meetings. Multiplicity is improving with age and Geo. Jones lias spent a Jot of time with the Multfid mare to get her in condition, as she has been very fretful. Her owner, Mr Iv. S. Williams, paid a big price for her, and for twelve months she never won a race, but now looks like getting back some of her 'purchase money. The same owner has had bad luck with Caher Dayon, another long-priced animal, who has only won one race in eighteen months. He was operated on some time back and may make' good later on.
