WANGANUI, Sept. 24. The Wanganui spring meeting, the profits of which are to be given to the Patriotic Fund, opened to-day in fine weather. There was a big attendance. The totalisator. handled £19.053, as against £20,114 for the first , day of last meeting. Results : Flying Handicap, six furlongs.— 3 Gratton, 7.13 (VVilson), 1; 1 Mummer, 7.13 (Deeley), 2; 4 Sunbird, 6.7 (H. Young), 3. Also started: 11 Expect, 2 Sir Mosley, 12 Ratana, 5 Our King, 9 Ineuru 10 Play Off, 13 Labour Day, 14 Leapuki, ,7 Adroit, 6 Sanguinary, 8 Epworth. Won'by two lengths, a head separating second and third. Time—lmin 13 4-ssee.
