(Received Alarch 9, 9.20 p.m.) SYDNEY, Alarch 9. The bulk of the butchers’ shops were re-opened to-day, but the supply is still below the demand pending slaughtering getting into full swing. A renewal of the trouble was threatened this morning, when the beef slaughtermen refused' to resume work, demanding a week's wages in lieu of notice. As the result of a ballot later in the day, however, they waived their claim and decided to resume to-mor-row. A number of the shopmen are still out, hut is expected that they will he absorbed when trade reaches normal in a few days. Air Justice Heydon granted an application on behalf of both masters and men varying the award by fixing the hours of butchering employees at 49} weekly and making the starting time in all shops 6.30 a.m.
