REDUCED WIRELESS CHARGES.
ARRANGEMENT FOR 5d A WORD(United Press Association —Copyrights SYDNEY, Feb. 21. Arrangements have been completed between the Amalgamated Wireless of Australia, Ltd., and the Postmas-ter-General for reducing the rates of wireless messages exchanged between Australian coast stations and sums at sea. This applies to ships registered in Australia and New Zealand, and trading exclusively with Australian ports. It operates from the first of May. The present rate is lOd per word, whereof 4d went to the ship, and (id to the coast station. The new rate will he sd, whereof the ship takes 2d and the station 3d, plus the level land line charge of a penny a word. .(Received Feb. 22, 5.55 p.m ) The wireless reductions include all vessels trading exclusively between Australia and New' Zealand ports and! will operate in march, not in May. y trial will bo made for a period of six months and if it is found that the reduced charge is eontinuable without, loss, the reductions will be made remanent.
